  2. Book report
Sherlock Holmes ( A study in Scarlet) is a book full with detective issues with two main characters: Sherlock Holmes who has an huge knowledge in different areas such as anatomy, geology, botanic, and british law but the most important thing about him is that he is a private consultor and he help other people and in some cases he also help the police when they cannot resolve them. The other main character is Dr. Watson who is a ex soldier and he came back because he was injured in combat and he couldn’t stay there for much longer and in the book and the tv show he is helping Sherlock with the cases and they lived together in 221b Baker Street.

Two of the most remarkable differences between the show and book is the name: the book is named “A study in Scarlet” and the TV. show the first episode was called “A study in Pink” and the second most remarkable difference is the time when this two histories take place. In the book the adventures of Sherlock and Dr. Watson happen around the first year of the 1900’s and in the show it takes places in the actual era, around 2010-2015. One character from the book was merged in the tv show with another one and this one is Lestrade whose name is Gregson Lestrade, the first name is the name if the detective from the book who is helping Lestrade to solve the case of the dead body. The brother of Sherlock (Mycroft) is not mentioned in the book and we can see him in the tv show. There’s also a different with the dead body found in the 4th floor of the house in the tv show but in the book is found on the first floor. There are not only one death in the tv show, there are other 4 and the one who Sherlock went to investigate was a woman and in the book was a man. The usage of technology is one of the most important difference; is the mean that sherlock use to catch the killer by using GPS to find the phone of the dead woman. Dr. Watson served in Vietnam and not in the battle of Maiwand. Lestrade shows more respect in the tv show to Sherlock and he takes his knowledge seriously.

The message of “RACHE” in both of the histories is implied but in different places, in the tv show the word was written on the wall and in the book was on the floor.

  3. Book Report A Study in Scarlet

A study in Scarlet is a book written by Arthur Conan Doyle written in 1887 and placed in that time. The book is narrated by one of the main characters Dr. John Watson. He starts telling the story of how he came back from the war to London again because he was wounded in the shoulder, and here is the first difference between the book and the series. According with the book Watson is hurt in the shoulder and in the series he is hurt in the leg, it's not said but is showed him using a walking stick.
Then he mets the other main character Sherlock Holmes because he is finding a new place to live and a friend takes him to Holmes, the second difference according to the book is that he mets Stamford in a bar, and in the series he sees him in a park. Then they go to Holme's lab where he knows him and SH analyses Watson, they agreed to live together.
After they moved Watson is still wondering what is the real profession of Holmes because even when he works in a lab, he is not a doctor or a scientist. Watson finds a magazine and reads an article about the science of deduction, and after a while he realized that was written by SH. And he tells Watson that he helps the police to solve crimes by using the science of deduction.
Then they have their first case that is about a dead woman, another difference, because according to the book is a dead man dressed in red, and in the series we can see that is a woman dressed in pink, near the body there is a word written in the floor, and in the book was written in the wall, the word is RACHE the detective Greg Lastrade (That in the book are two different characters) stars saying that is a name RACHEL and that the victim wrote the name of the killer, but SH realized that is a German word that actually means Revenge and he sees that something is missing or has been moved from the place and according with the book when they moved the body a wedding ring is dropped, in the series he pulls out the ring from the victim's hand. And then he follow the clues in the room, he founds a suitcase and finds a number which is probably the killer's phone. The series is set in this time that's why they have phones and uses GPS and others stuff.
They call in a date the one they think is the killer, and follow him thinking is the passenger of the taxi instead of the driver, it turns out the driver is the real killer, and he killed all of these people by making them kill themselves by choosing a pill, in the book there are only two crimes of two men, but in the series there are a lot of people dead by suicide.
The similarities are that the two main characters are the same, and most of them with a few exceptions. also the way they met is exactly the same in the lab and with all the deductions, and SH is seen beating a body to see how bruises are made in a dead body exactly as in the book. Other things is that SH makes all the deductions about Watson's life are exactly the same.
There are more differences than similarities but in my opinion the series was really close to the book but that was only episode 1 of the series probably the others are different, I liked it because I believe they took the most important details that Conan Doyle wrote carefully. I like more the book than the series even when the actors did a good performance, there are more details but in TV I think it can be changed by images and different stuff and also because of the time they change things because the book is set in the 1880's and there are things that don't apply in the context and they had to be changed.

  5. BOOK REPORT: COMPARE AND CONTRAST "A STUDY IN RED" (BOOK) WITH "A STUDY IN PINK" (TV SERIES).

There are many differences between the television series. In the book Sherlock met Watson in the apartment while in the series both met in a park. In the book, upon meeting Watson for the first time, Sherlock told Watson: "You have been in Afghanistan?" While I was in the television episode, when Watson was introduced to Sherlock in the lab, Sherlock asked Watson " Afghanistan or Iraq The series and the book have the same argument Holmes tries to discover the mystery of murder. The word Rache is written in different places, in the television series is written on the wall and in the book is written on the floor.
The title of the series is a study in pink because it mentions the story of the death of a woman completely pink while the title of the book in scarlet study the word scarlet represents the red blood of the scenes of crimenes.Ademas in the book Holmes aims to discover the mystery of the murder of a man in an abandoned house by recording 2 victims both men in the book and 4 victims in the series (arguing the murder of a woman in the series). Hon Race (agent who discovered the body in an abandoned house) if he had a role in the book but in the series did not have it. The book was published in the 19th century while the episode of the television series was produced in the 19th century. 21.In the series of television there are notable technological changes in the series mobile phones are used and in the book the newspaper is used.

There are similarities I can emphasize that both stories are in London in addition in the book and in the series the main people Sherlock Holmes and Watson are the same both solve mysteries of crimes. In the series and in the book the tracks were important to discover the villain ( The taxi driver ) .

In conclusion the series has differences but has many similarities with the book is interesting book although the series is also, I emphasize that the series has improved images attracting many people and motivating them to read the book both I liked the series and the book.

  7. Book Report

The most of books written are taken to the movie but, also in the most of cases we can notice some differences between them. The purpose of this comparison report is to identify some things that either differ or are similar between them, through our reading comprehension with the book A STUDY IN SCARLET by Arthur Conan Doyle as well our glance to the series par one of A STUDY IN PINK. This report will be made with two paragraph, the first the similarities, second the differences and ending with an own conclusion about that.

On the one hand obviously we have a lot of similarities, among them I was able to identify the following; First of all the main movie character Sherlock Holmes and Watson are the same, Watson’s friend, Mr. Stamford was who introduce them, the address where they were living was the same, the crime address also was the same, the word RACHE was used, the characteristics of Sherlock were similar between the book and movie, the advertisement with the ring was a similarity too, finally the end of the move or the end of the first part of the series was the same with the book part Sherlock met the murder who was the cabman.

On another hand we have the differences for example, the way which Watson met Stamford wasn’t the same in the book they met in a bar but, in the movie they met in a sort of park, the victim in the case where Sherlock was invited in the book was a man but in the movie was a woman dressed in pink, in the book the ring fall while they move the dead man but, in the movie Sherlock took the ring from her hand, in the movie Gregson and Lestrade were one person but in the book they was two detectives. Concluding there are more differences and similarities but those were the main thins to highlight I think but personally, having made this activity was helpful for us as English learned because we improve our vocabulary words as our reading comprehension. I’m not used to reading I guess it was my difficulty but, finally I end up reading all the first part and I going to continue reading the book and watching the series.

  8. A Study in Scarlet and A study in Pink
When a book has a very good plot usually always takes an adaptation to a film. It is the case of A study in scarlet and A study in pink. Both, stories are about a detective out of the ordinary. A study in scarlet is a book was written by Arthur Conan Doyle and A Study in Pink is a TV series written by Steven Moffat based on the study in scarlet. Both of, have differences and similarities, which are described below.
Both A study in scarlet and A study in pink are stories are to entertain people through imagination. They both use the same characters and descriptions, for example the names of the principal characters are; Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. Both Watson and Sherlock they know each other in the same way and live in an apartment. Sherlock Holmes is describe with the same characters, as is an expert singlestick player, is chemistry, and has mental acuity. However, in the book, describe more in detail about the characters, places and the vocabulary is clear because it can read, while in the TV series do not describe all the characters and have a difference appearance as describe in the book, also they talk fast. Both stories study a crime when they find a clue that is the word Rache that it means revenge in German, also, talk about a ring that was used to call the attention for the criminal. There are some similarities and both stories.
Both stories has a differences, one is that the murderer in the book is a man and the TV series is a woman dressed in pink. Other is that the word Rache in the book was written in the wall for the killer for mislead the detectives while in TV series was written for the woman and the book the detectives don’t know which is the means of the word Rache while in the TV series if they knew it. Other is that in TV series has a clue about a cellphone and this cellphone help to locate the killer while in the book is no mentioned, but nevertheless in the book is used the ring for find the killer. The end is different because in the book the killer is a man that revenge his love of the past. The study in pink is man that was sick and would soon die, and have kids that love, he said that had a fan and his name is Moriarty, Sherlock deducts that the man is that pay the killer.
In short, the stories have the same sequence, the same characters and different elements of the clues. The more personalized story is the reading because who read the book can use the imagination of all, and have more details about the characters, while the TV series it gives us an idea of what the clever detective Sherlock does with the help of his friend. Either way is fine for enjoy a happy moment.

  9. The relationship of camaraderie held by the two characters from the beginning was interesting, however the analytical skills and eccentricities of Sherlock are very well posed, in addition his skill in the use of logic and the astute observation that has to solve cases It's admirable, that's why I consider him the most famous fictitious detective.
When you read the book and see your film, certain differences are evident, for example when

The deductive power of Holmes shines when he discovers in a cadaver a clock and this one had engraved initial letters of the name of a pawnshop and through this he discovered the direction of the dead, in the books he tells the same story only that the clock does not had engraved letters but several pinchasos like of pin which it was deduced that the clock had been pawned several times

In addition, in the film Holmes uses text messages and occasionally the internet as an aid to his research, since it is a modern adaptation; does not smoke pipe but uses nicotine patches.

Finally, in my opinion, the success of the series is due to the intelligence of Holmes as it goes beyond the ordinary and his search for truth is implacable. This particular trait is almost inherent in all cultures: most human beings want to see the good win and the bad take their deserved. And if we add to that an intelligence that goes beyond the conventional and that even seems magic (although based on observing the smallest details, although they may seem innocuous), it derives in the perfect formula.
